Daniel Svahn is the winner of 2009 competition Stand On Your Own. Daniel is a senior student at Form at Beckman School of Design in Stockholm. Daniels stand concept is called "Mitab at the break of dawn".
- The foundation of the concept is the morning light, and how the sun creates a poetic light with bright and shady spots, says Daniel Svahn. The stand design narrates the story of Mitab as a source of creation and light. Within the shades the furniture reveals their colourful soul and and when they are moved, they leave their mark as a trace, a memory.
Jury motivation:
The contribution from Daniel Svahn is an excellent example of a plain and resourceful concept. The furniture is exposed efficiently and clearly. Coloured light creates the plain but dramatic concept of the morning sun, "leaving a lasting memory" as Daniel Svahn himself calls it. Clear, decorative and poetic!
